Which hum goes well with Classic Stacks?

Hi all, I have a Jackson equipped currently with two classic stacks and a JB. I originally thought that the stacks weren't doing it, but I'm thinking that maybe it's the JB that has got to go. I'd like to delve into the realm of lower output pups and I'm looking for a replacement hum for the bridge.

So, it needs to be tremspaced because of the FR. The woods of the guitar are poplar, maple and rosewood. I'd like the tone to be balanced with warm highs, sweet mids... you probably know the drill! From Van Halen to Satriani to SRV. No biggie, right? But still something that would complement the classic stacks as well.

I've currently been interested in the APH. It seems to be extra sweet and warm, but maybe a bit too much? The other one I've been interested in is the PG, but I'm a bit worried about it. Can't really place it anywhere, it's just a hunch. But if Satriani used them, I could be quite interested. With the '59 I'm worried that it'd have too much highs and not have enough mids. I'm not sure if they even do the Seth Lover for tremspacing, and I'm worried of the lack of wax potting in it.

So, what do you think about them? Which one could be nice and why?

59's and C-5's work pretty good with those kinds of single coils. The 59 has such a nice voice that you can mess with the height and get the tone dialed. It has less string pull, so when you lay into the chords, the strings ring nicely with no warble. Sometimes hotter pickups almost pull on your strings, and the chords don't ring as nice. That's just something I noticed when moving down to the vintage output 59 or Seth.

A CC? I hadn't really thought about it, but it could really fit the bill. I'm just worried about it's output, if it'll make the set unbalanced as I now have with the JB. Thanks for your thoughts!

I would think the 59 would work better because it's lower output. But anything in the vintage output range would work nicely. C5 I think would not balance with the classic stacks as well as the 59s.

if it were me id go pg. i have a pair of classic stacks and i think they would match up very well with a pearly gates bridge.

I'm quite thinking about the lower output pups as well. It would also be a change for me, something a bit new.

I'm quite interested in the PG now, it's one of the main contenders. But what is it when they say that pg is "slightly rude" or has some "sizzle"? I don't want a harsh pickup, and I really want something that's balanced. How's it compared to the APH? Thanks for your help!

brighter with more mids.

if you are going to get a traditional tone from the singles, youll probably be using 250k pot at least for the volume. i wouldnt worry about the pg being to bright or hasrsh. remember fender use a pearly gates with an alnico V magnet, the pg+, a much brighter pup

Well, yeah, I guess that using 250k pots would tame the high end quite a bit. I hadn't really thought that much about the pots earlier, but using 250ks would probably take away the doubt from my mind about PG being two bright. It could make APH even too dark, what do you think?
