...bright and clearer than a alnico 5? And what else do they use in strat and teles pickups besides alnico 2 and 5? I have WRHB's that i fitted with A2 and A5 magnets in place of the screw polepieces. A5 in the neck because i thought it would be clearer and brighter. But not quite as much as i'd have liked. Anything else in a fender type rod magnet that would be clearer/chimier than A5?

Back in the Seventies, Gibson flirted with A7 magnets in some of their humbuckers. These were not the most subtle units that Gibson ever produced.
Some of my favourite vintage style single coil pickups are made using A3 magnets.
