Which octave shall rule the world??!!??

There can be only one. What i'm suggesting here is a "what is the best octave pedal and why" comparison type of thread. I haven't played one in my life, but it's prob the next pedal im gonna get and as such im looking at killing 2 birds with one stone by getting a fuzz/octave. From clips i've listened to of various ones, I REALLY like the ultimate octave. Anybody know how it compares to the Octafuzz (is it a beefed up version or are they unique?). I would say my choice is either the ultimate octave or the octron. I like the fuzz that comes with the ultimate octave but it doesnt have an octave down, and i love the way the octron handles higher pitched notes.

Well, I'm not familiar with those models, but each octave fuzz pedal is unique in its own way. I've tried the tychobrahe octavia and built one, and I thought it was a nice raunchy sounding pedal, but my only gripe was it didnt hold the notes long enough, but other than that it sounded great! I'd like to try a Foxx tone machine or Ampeg Scrambler also. I've heard the Foxx Tone machine circuit variation of an octave fuzz has the most pronounced octave-up effect of all.

A lot of people like the Octron, but they are almost impossible to get. Plus I don't think fuzz is built in.

You know, through my amp I find it's the exact opposite. The thing sustains for ages. I hit a note and just let it ring. I also combine it with the amp's channel though, with the volume on the guitar rolled back, which compresses the sound a tad and probably adds more sustain than usual I'm guessing.. It sounds great with power chords too, sort of like the octave chording in The Black Keys' "Set You Free". Just, boom, sticks right in your face! Out of about all 6 octaves I've tried I'd say my favorite is still the Boss OC-2. It's got that vintage sound, it's phat, and it's just right for the price.

I am going to order an ultimate octave pedal today. I like the octafuzz but i dont want the hassle of having to order a special positive center adapter for the pnp circuit. I dont want an adapter hanging around that i might mistake for a normal one.
