Which OD pedal you ask???

Re: Which OD pedal you ask???

Nothing beats Andy at ProGuitarShop's..

nah nah nah nah nah nah nah,... duh duh duh duh duh, nah nah nah nah..

"Playing into a '65 Soho." lol.

Most of the youtube revies arent great or sound aefull. Chatreo has some good ones, but you can't understnad anything eh says.

A liberal dose of Harmony Central reviews and some forum questions, and you can decide what to buy.

Re: Which OD pedal you ask???

I almost started a new thread about it, but the MXR Classic Overdrive that I bought for $29 at GC's Independence Day sale is F'in amazing.

It reminded me of how good a Tubescreamer can sound, because it's even better....like a cross between the Ibanez Tubescreamer and Boss OD-1, two pedals that sound great in front of a Marshall with a Gibson, or Fender in front of a Fender or Marshall.

I have to say that it's the best cheap piece of gear I've ever bought.

The MXR TS copy is so good. I'm using it with a pushed clean tone and a strat, and a distorted EL-34 tone with a Gibson, and I'm totally reminded of what a classic circuit can do, when all we think of nowadays is boutique.

Joe,

Do you know if that MXR Classic OD is the same as the GT-OD??

I recently compared the MXR GT-OD head to head wiht my AnalogMan TS-9/808 and it held it's own pretty well...the MXR was a little more gainy AND grainy sounding and had a bigger low end but all in all it help it's own I thought...

If you wanted a TS with more low end and some more grit the GT-OD might be the ticket...

Re: Which OD pedal you ask???

Yeah Christian....the two pedals are the exact same circuit board, with different enclosures. Actually, the Classic OD looks better than the GT-OD, but they're identical.
The Classic OD was just a special run done for Guitar Center. So glad I bought it.

How does it compare to the Klon?

Great link btw! I'm a sucker for od's drives etc.

Cool...I thought real hard about buying one but just didn't...

Maybe I should have but between my King of Tone and AnalogMan TS-9 there are very few OD sounds I can't get plus I have things on hand like the Box of Rock and a vintage Rat for more gainy sounds.

All that said, the GT-OD was a pretty hip pedal for guys that wanted a TS sound but a little more of it!
