Which of these are true bypass...?

I know John's V847 and the Pickup Booster are, but what about: Analogman TS-9 Silver modded/Comprossor, Boss OC-2, Boss TU-2, Boss NS-2, MXR Zakk Wylde Overdrive, Keeley RAT, and John's DS-1?

Re: Which of these are true bypass...?

If im not wrong, stock Boss pedals arent true bypass, but it doesnt suck too much tone, hardly noticeable

Re: Which of these are true bypass...?

Probably the only pedal that is true bypass is the modded 847 wah...The other pedals have an FET circuit any they don't cut your tone...

Re: Which of these are true bypass...?

Hmm. Well I suppose a better question is which ones have the worst tone sucking effect and need to be placed before the bypasser?

Re: Which of these are true bypass...?

The MXR ZW44 Zakk Wylde Overdrive has the only one with True Bypass switching from the pedals you mentioned. If you're using it with an adaptor, try unplugging the adaptor from the mains outlet while the pedal is turned off. You're guitar signal will still go thru. Kicking the pedal on will cut the the signal out. The same thing will happen when you are using a battery. This shows you that when the pedal is off, it is completely off and your guitar signal just just passes thru.

No disrespect man, but that's not really true. A pedal can be a terrible tone sucking non-true bypass monster and still let signal through when it's unplugged (or without battery) . . . all that that means is that the pedal is not buffering the original signal like a boss/digitech pedal would do.

Re: Which of these are true bypass...?

Thanks for clearing that up GuitarStv, I really appreciate it :). I wasn't aware that Dunlop's ''hardwired bypass'' is not a true bypass switching :smack: I just always assumed that this is their ''term'' for true bypass. Well, I'm going to have to send John my 535Q for a true bypass mod! Thanks for the link :)
