Which one do you feel is the best? Standard tremolo bridges

Re: Which one do you feel is the best? Standard tremolo bridges

I've used a Wilkinson VS100, a Fender US Standard 2-point, and a G&L Dual Fulcrum, and to me the G&L feels the best, closely followed by the Wilkinson. I found the Fender to be ok, but not great. Both the G&L and Wilky had pop in arms and a grub screw for tightening them up, the Fender had a screw in arm.

I haven't tried all the choices. But what I have found is that there was tooo much variation from one trem to the next to pick by design.

I had the six point vintage style on an old strat that was pretty much crap and formed my initial opinion based on it. Shortly before I bought a different strat with the same bridge, I was in a band with a guitar player who had an American Standard Strat that was much nicer. I initially credited his two point trem with all the difference I heard between our trems.

When my tax return came in, I went down to the store to buy me an MIA strat like his. After playing ever Fender product in the store I took the money that I was going to use for the MIA strat and bought an MIJ strat and an MIJ fretless Jazz. That strat is still the one I go to first, twenty one years later.

I've since replaced the block and the saddles (solid steel block and graph-tech saddles). With a proper setup it is the best bridge I've ever used.

Along the way I've tried others and found winners and losers. I still say it mostly comes down to how well adjusted it is. Admittedly there are some that no amount of adjustment will help (I'm looking at YOU, Jazzmaster.) but mostly the variations between one Wilkinson (or whatever) and another are usually bigger than the variations between a Wilkinson and a Standard Fender.

Although the COOLEST bridge I've used was on a custom guitar a guy let me play at a jam session. It looked like the usual Wilkinson VG401 trem but had piezo elements. How often have you heard trem effects on an acoustic track?

Wilkinson VS100. Great tone, great range, and stays in Tune!

I like the Wilky 2-point trem... stays in tune and is very user-friendly. I was never a fan of the 6-screw vintage style, but I'm coming to appreciate them more recently. Never tried the PRS or the G&L.

I did own a Jackson with a Floyd and I found it pretty easy to use, although I didn't have to perform any setups with it, so I may stll be a newbie on that !
