in general, mij without a doubt. some can rival or are even better than those mia.

Made in Japan. 80's models especially. The necks feel better than most of the MIM models. I do really like most of the MIM Jimmie Vaughn Strats I've played though! Lew

MIJ, people in Europe hardly buy USA Fenders just because most of them strongly believe Japanese rival them.

MIJ Japan ive owned em all and the MIJ comes pretty darn close to the MIA

In my experience, MIJ all the way, or the new name they use, "Crafted in Japan." Some folks think that the ones currently imported from Japan (aka the guitars built for the Japanese market) are somewhat better than the guitars that have been imported in the US in the past, but that's a jump ball probably. How much does a New standard MIJ strat cost in Japan?

The reason I ask is because my dad works for Panasonic and every week or so at least one or two people from his office go to japan and they always offer to buy stuff I gave them the cash for it. It would be cool to get a MIJ strat.

Dude, a better buy would be those ESP japan guitars. Edwards and Navigator.
