i didnt know there were korean ones man (if thats what MIK stands for)..
i thought fender had MIA, MIJ and MIM, whereas for squier you have china (maybe some korean ones there?)
for the money, MIJ is the way to go. looking on ebay or in smaller shops is your best bet, aiming for MIJ stuff before about '94 (the first production run)
i, personally, would take MIJ (or better, CIJ) against any MIA fender since FMI formed... CBS had some OK examples, but buying pre-CBS now is a collector's game, not a player's one. the japanese fenders have SOOO MUCH MOJO! (the new ones are pretty hot too, but they only really concentrate on the jags, jazzmasters, cyclones, mustangs, that stuff) :burnout:

MIJ MIJ MIJ MIJ MIJ MIJ...lol XD Great price/quality. I would feel happier buying a MIJ Fender than a MIA because I would have another $600 to buy another MIJ if I wanted...or an amp...or some effects for basically a guitar of equal quality.

I have an older MIJ 60's Reissue Strat that plays and sounds like a dream. I've yet to play a MIM version off the rack that plays nearly as good.

I hate to repeat what everybody else is saying, but I've played MIJ Fenders and they are very fine guitars, many rival or surpass the MIA I've compared them too. MIM can be great guitars, but the Japanese really seem to know their stuff.

I played the ash Strat & Tele that come with Duncans, I think they're Korean. Both were really nice, but didn't seem comparable to a standard MIM Fender. I think a killer guitar can be found from any country, you just have to play a sh*tload of them.
FWIW, I remember hearing that the reason Fender quit making stuff in Japan was they couldn't keep too close of an eye on the QA, and it was easier with Mexico being closer. Sounds like BS to me, but hey, ya never know.
