Which one is the best superstrat-style guitar? (Hamer, Suhr, Music Man, PRS)

Many of us love super strat style guitars, with thin neck, high output pickups and tremolo that allow to do some insane Dive-bombs. So I recorded some of my favourite guitars, to see how they hold up together. This is long video, because I was trying to show as many sounds as I could. but below the video you can find timecodes for faster navigation.

Unfortunately I didn't have any Jackson, Kramer, Ibanez, ESP guitars at the moment, so there isn't a comprehensive superstrat battle, but I did my best. Maybe next time I'll have more guitars to try.

Obviously, every guitar makes you play differently; strings, pickups weren't the same, so take this review with a grain of salt. My playing is not the best but im not auditioning for you band anyway :)

As for me I'm big Hamer guitars fan, I feel that Hamer and some really good Gibson custom Shop reissues has that vintage mojo that everyone is looking for.
but I'm sure everyone there is guitar for everyone, they all good in their own way, and everybody has his own preferences so opinions will be all over the place.

Gear Used,
Guitars: 1989 Hamer Californian, 2013 Suhr Modern, 2016 Music Man Majesty, 1998 Music Man Axis, 2005 PRS Custom 22
Amps & Cabs: Diezel Herbert MK1, 4x12 Diezel Cabinet with Eminence Governor Speakers,
Effects and other stuff: Eventide H3000 for Delay and Modulation, UAD Apollo, Suhr Reactive Load, OwnHammer IR's, Logic Pro X

I've played a JP16 and while I'm not a Superstrat guy, it's one of the finest guitars I've ever played, if not the very best. Their quality is surreal.

Nothing I've played comes close.

So far, Jackson Dinkies and Soloists and Ibanez RGs fill the slot for me.

I'm currently drooling over an ESP LTD MH-1000HS, though. I wonder if a mahogany bodied, neck-through SuperStrat would be an interesting spin on this.

Are those real Derelicte jeans?

I kid I kid.

I liked the Hamer the best. Did not like the PRS -sounds like the pickups are too close to the strings.

I'm a big fan of G&L. You really should have at least two or three in that comparo. Like the Invader, Comanche, S-500, Legacy Special, Legacy HB and Legacy 2HB.

The closest thing to a Super Strat in the Music Man world is probably a Silhouette Special, as it is the same wood, and essentially a cut-down shape. An Axis really isn't close to a Strat, and a Majesty is sort of its own model.

I think that both Axis and Majesty are not 100% but they share some SuperStrat DNA, so I thought it would be great to show them.

I have an RG which I like which screams 90's. Recently at a visit to the store, i liked a brown wood finished RG with a hard tail that had a tonezone in the bridge. That one played and sounded great.

Just looking at your video preview, I would go for the Hamer Californian. It seems more 80's to me and those were the superstrat days of yesterday.

To me it comes down to the individual guitar. You can just about throw a dart in a room of super strats and land a pretty nice one.

I once built a strat out of a guitarfetish body, a mighty-mite maple neck w/jumbo frets 14" radius, a schaller floyd rose etc, and I thought It did good for that sort of style.

All I own at the moment are “super strats” it’s my favorite type of guitar. Theres some redundancy in my guitars for sure. All 24 fret, some sort of neck thru or set neck build, arched tops, with tremolos. For the feel my favorite has to be the 91’ Jackson soloist limited, it just feels so right. I love all my others and will most likely never sell them. I’ve played Jackson and charvels for a long time though so I might have some sort of bias towards them.

this Hamer isn't typical 80's shredder , usually when I think about 80's shred guitar, some crazy graphics, or screaming color come to mind. this one is just Red like Ferrari with really cool quilted maple. something that gibson or PRS would have.
