Which one of these two guitars and why?

Re: Which one of these two guitars and why?

I think he means that the shorter the scale, the shorter the distances between adjacent frets, which makes things a little bit crowded on the higher frets, If you have fat/thick fingers you might have issues playing on the 22th->24th frets, but I doubt this will be a problem.
And yes, 24 frets are nice to have.

Oh I see. Then it would not be my problem. I have thin hands and fingers. A M gloves size.

Re: Which one of these two guitars and why?

The LTD Deluxe is Korean made, the low end LTDs are Vietnamese. The new Charvels are made in Mexico, so I would expect the quality to be very similar.

The LTD will not feel like a LP other than the scale length, much lighter, thinner body and neck, and jumbo frets. The Charvel won't feel like a Fender except for scale length for similar reasons, although it will probably feel more like a strat than the LTD will feel like a LP.

Both are very nice guitars that will play and sound great, you will probably be happy with either one. The LTD will sound darker and of course have lighter string tension, the Charvel will have more snap and be brighter.

Hmm, you have a decision to make...

Nevermind, it's cool to see you friends in the forum exchanging and trying each other's axes. At least this is what I think I understood from your posts :fest6:

Yep!! Sorry for getting alil off track in your thread Bro!! I moved awhile back, so .....

Back to our regularly scheduled thread...

Kinda chuckling to myself.. User name: Jackson Distortion. Avatar: ESP..

Yeah...well, I don't prefer Jackson's anymore, typically. I have since moved on to brands sporting shorter scales. So, you'll see my avatar probably switch according to mood. lol

Re: Which one of these two guitars and why?

The card I've had since '87 or so has a limit that could buy a car, I never, ever want to get close to that...

LOL!! I know .. I got my self in some trouble in years back.. wont make the same mistake again. (Just for the record, it wasnt me going gear crazy...was newly married and had to get household things and basically support us on credit for awhile...)

Nice to have that kind of room for emergencies.. Plus Ive always taken pride in paying my bills and being credit worthy, so that fiasco back then was hard all around. But Yeah, I surely wouldnt want the payment of a maxed out card like that...

Re: Which one of these two guitars and why?

All samples sound the same in Thomann. If you decide to go with this particular seller I'd say : CHECK YOUR INSTRUMENT MANY MANY TIMES BEFORE YOU TOUCH ANY TOOL. They are NOTORIOUS for not respecting warranties, return policies, not to mention their sub-zero customer support (and respect). I'd steer clear off Thomann.

Have you ever considered smth custom from a local luthier like Frudua? Italy must have tons of fine techs/makers.

Whoa! I didn't know Thomann was that bad. I know about Frudua, but I think he's quite expensive for his services..

Re: Which one of these two guitars and why?

I cant check the sound samples here at work, but.... I wouldnt rely on samples from just one place as you never know their recording methods. And, from what greekdude said about thomann, I maybe wouldnt trust anything from them.. haha. With the Charvel, if its got a JB in it, it should NOT sound mushy..

That's what I would hope from a strat like design with a JB in it.. :rambo:
