Have you tried different magnets in your Mean 90's? I Like an A8/A4 in the bridge. More beef, hits harder. To me, the stock A5's that most P-90's have make for a bright, thin bridge.
It's an old thread, but here's my 2 cents. I have an Epiphone SG G-400 with GFS Mean 90s. I really like them and think they add some personality to the guitar. But, these days, I'm wanting something different from this SG. I like the tone, but, to me, the SG asks for a little more aggressive tone. It's something completely personal, but just my feeling. I think they would do great in Les Pauls too (if I had another Les Paul, I'd might try them in it).
