which pickups for my strat???

hi,

I have a squire (japanese) strat and want to replace the bridge pickup with something a bit more beefy. probably a seymour duncan!!

i was wondering if you can fit humbuckers to a Strat or do you have to use pickups like Hot Rails that are the same size as singlecoils??

someone who knows please tell me (voodoomonkey303@hotmail.com) or just reply

Hope you can help!

cheers

Chris

Re: which pickups for my strat???

First, how Beefy do you want it ??? The Hot Rails and the JB jr. are pretty Beefy single coil size Humbuckers. If you want to put a full size Humbucker in it, you'll need to check and see if the guitar body is routed to accept a Full size Humbucker. If it is, you'll either need to rout the pickup slot on the pickguard, or buy a pickguard that is factory cut to allow for a full sized Humbucker. Also, I'm not sure about the pots on a Squire. You may need to change the pot, maybe not. You'll get plenty of advice on this topic, I'm sure lol !!! So,......Good Luck :)

Re: which pickups for my strat???

I'd go with the Antiquity I or II Custom bridge: almost 10K.

Your pickups in that Squire are nothing special...you might consider replacing all of them someday with Antiquitys. Lew

Re: which pickups for my strat???

so, if i chose a Hot Wire bridge pickup (i dont know if theres any difference in bridge pickups, neck pickups themselves etc) then I wouldn't have to change the pots?

do they fit pickups in most guitar shops?

please reply

Re: which pickups for my strat???

That guitar probably has humbucker routing. You would need a new pickguard for aq full size humbucker in the bridge. Also that guitar probably has 500K pots so if you stay with single coils you might want to switch to 250K pots. Humbuckers can stick with the 500K.

Re: which pickups for my strat???

most music stores will do it for you but it will cost some money. i would recomend learning how to do it yourself.
