For Christmas of next year I am planning on getting the Schecter 006 Deluxe. I like Rand Rhoads, Megadeth, Judas Priest and early Metallica. Which pickups should I put in this basswood guitar and why?

Before getting new pickups you should actually play that instrument IMO. Maybe the stock pickups will be exactly what you'd like to achieve.

Thanks I know I should. I was just asking for some pickup suggestions in case if I don't like the stock humbuckers.

from what i've heard, JB is for megadeth tone, EMG 81 for metallica, DiMarzio X2N and Bill laurence are for Pantera.
but it doesn't depend all on pickups, it's more about amps and effect setups.

I'm replacing my bridge with X2N this christmas. hope it'll be good. :)

I think all four of those pickups are more versatile than that, from what I've heard. Especially the JB.

I forgot mention that I also like to do clean stuff as well as the heavy stuff. Would the DD be suitable for doing both metal and clean stuff?

I thought my DD sounded like crap til I reallized just about everything does through a line6 spider. And then I pulled the pickup close to the strings... love it now.

oh well... anyways, my schecter has a dd and is made of basswood. It sounds good. Balanced, mid heavy maybe but no one should have a problem with that:D

split the dd. It's the best sounding split pickup ever in my opinion. Just like a strat, slightly more agressive. Splitting lowers output, so it stays clean under more gain.
