Which pots fur Antiquity Humbuckers?

I recently bought the SD Antiquity Humbuckers and they are great.
Due to old pots in my Gibson Les Paul Traditional which do not turn smoothly i want to give the Antiquities a new set of long shaft pots.
Which pots should i get or which pots does SD recommend for the Antiquity Humbuckers?
Volume and Tone both in 500k Log?
Or 300 and 500 log or linear combination?
Curious to know.

Welcome to the forum.

I'd say get 500k linear for volume and 500k audio for tone then get a cap set and resistor set and you'll be able to dial it however you want. I connect the tone to the middle lug of the volume pot (50s wiring) and it draws out the taper of the linear volume pot nice and long. Resistor sets are cheap and you'll be able to lower the value of your volume pot if you choose. Cap sets are cheap too and they change your sound a bit even with the tone on 10. Start with a 22nf and you can adjust up or down if you want.

Get one of the pot/cap kits from RS Guitarworks. You can even get them pre-wired. I have a 1960 Classic LP from 1997 with Ants and the RS Kit was a major improvement over the stock parts. If you have questions, call them...nice folks. They can advise which kit is best for you.

If you like the sound you get with your current pots, measure them! Connect cheap radio shack multimeter to the outer lugs of the pots and see what their resistance is. Then buy new pots with that spec.

I do not like the taper of the volume pots.
They clean up just in the range of 5-25% of the pot. After that if i turn the volume up not much happens.
The tone pots seem to work a bit better but not as good as i want them to do.
I will measure them and maybe give RS a call.

They are probably linear taper. I prefer audio taper pots for volume and tone. Some folks like audio for volume and linear for tone. It is really a matter of personal preference.

Do your pots have markings on them? The first letter is the taper: A=Audio taper, B = linear taper. The number is the resistance: 250k, 500k, etc. So A250k is a 250k pot with audio taper, B500k is a 500k pot with linear taper, etc.

If your volume knob is B500k, then try A500k - the same resistance but a different taper. IF your tone pots are OK< you can keep the same resistance and taper as you have now, just get better quality ones.

I have found CTS pots to be good quality and reasonably priced. The Seymour Duncan brand pots are excellent - if you can afford them. (I think the're made by Bourns but don't quote me on that.) Alpha brand pots are cheap but just OK in the performance department. Spend a buck or two more to get good ones.

I dig using the YJM Speed Pots for both rhythm and tone. I never investigated if they were linear or log. But the taper is perfect (for me).
