I'm currently refurbishing my friend's franken-strat. Its got a Vintage '59 HB in the bridge and 2 SD quarterpounder (SSL-7 old style) single coils. One of the QP's is dead as a doornail, both connections coming from the coil are broken and it will have to be totally rewound as I simply cannot find the ends without damaging further. I talked to my friend and he wants to replace the broken pickup with another QP. Thing is I want to make sure I get the pickup with the right polarity for hum cancelling when matched up with the good pickup. Both pups have a little sticker on the back saying "7R". Does the "R" mean reverse polarity? If so, then obviously one of those pickups did not belong right beside the other in the first place. Any help would be appreciated.
