Which single coil fits my ´59 and JB ???

Hi All ! :)

I have just installed a ´59 in the neck and a JB in the bridge on my ´73 strat - They sound great !
I have a Dimarzio Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues in the middle pos. but it isn´t loud enough, and it is very skinny and thin sounding. Do you have any suggestions for a single coil that can keep up with the humbuckers ?

Welcome to the forum.

By "very skinny and thin sounding", I assume that you mean the sounds heard when the middle position DiMarzio single coil is combined with either of the SD humbuckers.

Is the DiMarzio pickup skinny and thin sounding by itself?

If the weak sound only occurs in selector switch positions 2 and 4, the cause is probably the phase relationship between the middle pickup and the other two. The solution is to reconnect the output conductor wires of the middle pickup in the reverse of their present order. (Typically, white to ground and black to the selector switch.)

The thin sound occurs when i play the Dimarzio alone - in pos. 3/middle.
The pick up was installed in the neck pos. before. I didn´t notice anything thin or bad then. I have a couple of gigs coming up this weekend, but will check the soldering again on monday - maybe i have made a mistake. :)
I was looking at the STK-S6 - that seems like it could do the trick.

You were not comparing it against two humbuckers then. ;)

well - yes i was - i had a Dimarzio Tone Zone in the bridge :)

The Tone Zone is higher output than the JB. If the DiMarzio VV HB did not sound underpowered in the neck position vs. the ToneZone it should also keep up in the middle vs. the JB and 59. Best to check the wiring.

Then it's very slightly higher. I have both, though not in the same guitar. At low gain, the Tone Zone seems to be only slightly "dirtier". More 'hair' if you will.
