Which Single Coil?

Hi Folks,

I have an Ibanez RG1570L with Alnico Pro II humbuckers in the Neck and Bridge, but the original Ibanez S1 pickup in the middle.

Question is, what's the best complementary SD pickup to replace it with?

I'm a huge G N' R /Slash fan as far as tone goes.

Cheers :bigok:

Re: Which Single Coil?

slash pretty much uses buckers in all his guitars so im not sure what single coil. i think a lil '59 bridge version sounds great in the middle position

I would consider any single-coil or squished humbucker with the word "vintage" in its name.

Re: Which Single Coil?

Its really up to what you want from your guitar, but you've pretty much nailed the slash thing already with the humbuckers. I prefer a true single coil in between two humbuckers, it just gives you a bigger range of tones to work with than 3 humbuckers would. I'd go with a vintage style single coil, but if you hate hum then a noiseless single coil (not a single coil sized humbucker). Its up to what you want out of those positions on the switch though really.

i have the same views as ibanezrocks. i put in a Alnico 2 Pro Single in the middle of my yamaha between a jb and jazz. gives me a wider variety of tones. the APS-2 sounds glassy and with some twang and also some warmth in it. great single coil pup for me
