Which spacing for a Gibson SG?

I have a Gibson SG Faded and I would like to put a Duncan Distortion in it. Should I get the SH-6 or TB-6? I would think regular spacing...but I recently put a DiMarzio pickup in my Les Paul Custom and I was told to get F-spaced...and it matched up with the poles perfectly. Thanks!

If the F-Spaced Dimarzio matched up, then get the TB Duncan. I've found that all the imported fixed bridge guitars I've had required F- / TB Spaced pickups. Maybe Gibson is using the same spacing now?

Re: Which spacing for a Gibson SG?

Historically correct ABR-1's are like 49mm and that is exactly the measurement of the regular Duncan's. Whereas, the regular DiMarzio's are 48mm. Moreover, when it comes to f-spacing or trembuckers, Duncan's are 52mm and DiMarzio's are 51mm.

That's is exactly why DiMarzio is recommending f-spaced neck pickups in guitars with a bit wider nuts.

Anyways, the newer German Gibson bridges are like 50mm. So you could buy a regular Duncan or a f-spaced DiMarzio.

Hope that helps.

Modern Gibson pickups are wide spaced (490T, 498T, 500T). If you are replacing one of these, you want F / Trem spaced.

Classic Gibson pickups (BBs 57s,) are standard spaced.
