Hi there can you guys give me some advice on these 2 wahs for sale. Have you had any problems with them do the bypass alright etc?
I am looking to upgrade my wah (plastic one) which i find the trebles are to trebly and sharp and the bass notes are to low u can't hear them. Im after a classic jimi hendrix voodoo child kind of vocal tone.

Thanks dills

My friend has a dunlop crybaby jimi and its not good or bad. Its not the coolest sound ever and it breaks regulary. I wouldn't go that way, theres probably better options. Good luck.

I have the JH-1, and it's the real stuff. It's got quite a fat sound due to it's lowered operating range compared to some others. You might experience some light hiss problems though, but thats the sort of stuff we use noise gates for. If you don't have other gain-adding devices in your signal chain, then it should be ok.

The JH-1 Is basically the normal one with a .022µF cap... you can easily mod it that way and save lots of $$... I did that... and I also did true bypass on mine, also easy. I can give you the link to a site where there are step by step explainations of the mods.

Btw I find it to be really good now...

I have a Vox 847. A Vox Clyde McCoy and I have a Thomas organ Co. Wah from the 60's. The latter of the 3 is the one I use the most. It was avintage piece that sounded crappy so for a long time I had it on the shelf. I sent it to Stratdeluer97 who modded it for me with a power supply a true bypass and a few other items and it sounds great now.

I will be sending him my 847 sometime in the future to do similar mods to this as well. If you can pick one of these up used and send it to John for his mods it will probably be the bset way to go. Its a good Wah right out of the box, with the mods its awesome.

The Clude McCoy right out of the box is also a good Wah. IMO it has a throatier voice than the 847 and comes with true bypass. For the $ its probably the best value.

The Fullertone Clyde or Clyde Deluxe are probably the best Vintage sounding Wah you can get today. Pricey, but the tone is right where you want it. No mods or tweaks necessary!

For me the "modern" Wahs just don't do it. I want a Wah sound like Jimi or Eric. Those 2 guys had the best Wah sound I ever heard.
