whicked bad guitar idea.... how?

Indie P Bass

Holy-shat.... I have been sitting on this bass idea forever.... it's awsome...
ok... take a 57' style P-bass (solid maple neck, ash body & 1 P-pickup) and put black star inlays in the fretboard, then paint or sticker red stars on the black body, put a red pickguard on it and stick black stars on it and "continue" any stars that the pickguard partially covers. The headstock would be black with red writing on it...

who/where would I get this all done? I've been drooling over a bass like this since I first started playing. It'd have chrome hardware, still, and no pickup/bridge covers, and I figure, it's about time I start thinking of doing this.

PS. The hardest part would be the neck. The body, I could just use stickers or something.

Warmoth'll do the star inlay on a guitar, but not bass, like I want...

JohnJohn will do the inlay on the bass neck. Hell he'll make the damn neck, and for a good price too. It'd be an awsome neck. Then you could save up your cash for awhile and then send the body to butnut and get one of those kick ass sparkle jobs. Dude, I want one too now. 'Cept on a strat with a tele neck.

uhh......

okay here I'm going to save you from yourself coming back from the future just to give you a swift kick in the nards.

I've done stupid stuff like that to instruments in the past and looked back on it and thought "what in the F$c# was wrong with me?". I have a good feeling this might be one of those.

Do what makes you happy though, I'm not gonna bash it, the J. model Iceman with stars was pretty cool looking back in the day. But my god man....I hope I can spare you some embarrassment of taking such a thing into public, and perhaps spare the rest of us the sight of it. :laugh2:

Re: whicked bad guitar idea.... how?

I used to play with a bassist who just went ahead and put silver star stickers right over the fretboard dots on his silver/black P-Bass... he replaced them when they wore out.

Oh yeah he also had a fretless Purple J-Bass with plastic glow-in-the-dark stars superglued to the body.

Are you crying yet, JohnJohn? :laugh2:

My mates friend has a Green Limited edition Ibanez JEM, he stuck some felt frogs to the body, he ruined a piece of art.....

Re: whicked bad guitar idea.... how?

I used to play with a bassist that had a midnight blue MIM P which he proceeded to cover the face of with small, yellow smiley-face stickers.

I know it's bad for the sound, but it did look kind of cool. :)

How are stickers "bad for the sound"?
On an electric with a normal amount i'd say the effect is negligible but on an acoustic you're gonna do some tonal damage.
