Who else has helpers?

Re: Who else has helpers?

Nice moggies, Chris, but the art of the feline assistants is positioning.

If there is a portion of the workbench that is essential, the cat will settle right there. If there is a forearm that is essential to handling fragile components, the cat will want to lay across it. If you absolutely MUST concentrate on something fiddly, the cat will make noises and head towards the door or the feeding area.

True, but mine work in tandem; one pins me down, whilst the other wreaks havoc - make it tricky reaching the camera at the right moment to provide evidence.

Re: Who else has helpers?

this is definitely a thread for me, I have a team of helpers, and they wear uniform too:

this one generally doesn't give a crap about what I do but frequently take naps on my practice amp and use it as a scratching post

this one though, loves to mess with me while I'm working - chewing on my strings while I'm changing them, pushing screws or bushings off my desk to the ground, and she would occasionally try to slap my hand while I'm trying to play too

Ricki decided Jeff Beck wasn't getting it done

Lucy was pretty sure the Good Rats weren't doing it for her either

Re: Who else has helpers?

Guy in my display pic. I'm kinda scared that he'll get a soldering iron to the face one day.

Re: Who else has helpers?

Funny how no amount of padding prevents one feeling the claws striking through. :D

Re: Who else has helpers?

I had a studio helper (grey tabby cat), someone let him out one day while I was at work and the neighbor's dog killed him (talk about feeling like you just got gut punched by Jet Li when you get home). He used to get behind me in my studio chair and go to sleep as long as I played. What was cool about him was that he LOVED music, and could always tell when I needed a break. Solos starting to sound a little uninspired? He would hop down, tap me on the leg and look at me like "It's not sounding good. You need a break, bro!" I'm painting my '85 Barretta with his pattern when it finally warms up enough to actually paint it.

Yeah, he was definitely my bud (actually wouldn't let anyone near me unless he was familiar with them). I'll post pics of him as well as the guitar when it's done. It's strange how attached you get to them. They're more like your children. I think I'll always miss that little cat.

Re: Who else has helpers?

Your cat appears to be possessed by demons.

haha! too funny! Animals are awesome--wish I could have one but not the best situation right now between work and an apartment, I don't have the time to have a pet as I am away from the apartment most of the time.

Re: Who else has helpers?

I've been trying to get a picture of mine, she loves sitting on top of my amp, but ieverytime I get my phone out to take the picture she jumps down. So here she is on top of the kitchen cab instead.

Re: Who else has helpers?

My cat gets jealous when I play. When I try and ask him what's wrong, he just gives me an exasperated sigh. It's hilarious.

He only tries to help when its string changing time.

Re: Who else has helpers?

Actually, when I pick up my guitar he literally runs out of the room! So at least we know he's smart :13:
