Who has gone to Japan, bought a guitar and brought it home?

I know what I'd be coming back with :bigthumb:

while that does look cool, im not playin that thing on a gig. ill injure myself or someone else

I have seen amazing pictures of custom shop Ibanez and ESP in Japan that were mind-blowingly beautiful and only available overseas

This was a 1 of 1 Iceman done as part of a suite of guitars for the 50th anniversary of the USA division of Hoshino a couple of years ago.

Sadly, there is no Custom Shop for Ibanez like with ESP and other brands where you can order your own specs etc. The CSs in Japan (and LACS) of that kind do prototypes and guitars for artists only.

The closest there is is J. Custom and some Sugi stuff, but you can't directly order. Maybe it's possible through a dealer, but I don't think they'd do like one guitar.

yesssss. this is what I'm talking about!

So there is an appt only Fuji Gen store that looks rad. Good value for the money but a kinda no-name brand in the US. Lots of Ibanez, Edwards, ESP stuff that looks super unique like above.

I'd love a Japan only Gretsch but I'm not seeing much. Some of the stores are so big they have variations/models of US stuff only available through that store too. Cool but I want something fully japan only and as weird as it gets.

See if you can get The Alfee "Swan" guitar. It's an ESP "Ultimate Archangel"

I was at a high-end guitar shop in Florida around 20 years ago. They had some Ibanez Custom Shop stuff it was the first time I had very laid hands on one.

"Art you can play" is the slogan of Guitar Gallery, the retail guitar shop located at Downtown Disney West Side, opposite to Virgin Mega Store.

The store features more than 150 custom, collector, rare and unique guitars from world-wide manufacturers. Even if you're not a musician, a peek inside this store is worth the effort. You'll see hand-decorated guitars, such as a surrealistic "Wonderland" Washburn guitar created by Sammy Hagar and his son. An Ibanez model features a hand-carved Egyptian scene on its wooden face. Guitars are suspended from hand-brushed aluminum walls and encased in rotating, tubular display cases. Oversized guitar picks singed by famous guitar players make up the store's "Rock 'n Roll Alley"

An investment-grade specialty shop, Guitar Gallery offers something for beginners to experts and collectors. Guitar prices range from $199 for a beginner's electric guitar to $25,000 for a Jimmie Rodger Limited edition, No. 24 of 100 (made with Brazilian rosewood, gold, fossilized ivory and mother of pearl). Guitar brands sold here include Ovation (electric, acoustic), Washburn (electric, acoustic, banjos), Martin (acoustic, mandolins), Guild (electric, acoustic), Gibson (electric, acoustic, mandolins), Ibanez (electric, acoustic) and Fender (electric).

The store also sells guitar accessories, including slides, tuners, guitar straps, books, educational videos and introductory learner packages. Novelty items include T-shirts, key chains and candles.

If you're interested in purchasing a one of the shop's guitars -- or mandolins or banjos -- there's a small jam room in the rear of the store for you to test it out first. When you're ready to pay, take note of the guitar-shaped check-out counter with inlaid mother of pearl.

Store owner George Hines is a Philadelphia native who owns George's Music Inc., a national chain of musical instrument stores. This is his first Guitar Gallery.

I went yesterday

holy hell it’s amazing

i bought something weird and ridiculous but super fun

and they don’t charge tax to foreigners so they take off the listed price (it’s baked in)

stoked

my wife screwed up and let me go out to the shops again yesterday. I was at the register trying to buy and ship home an MIJ Jazzmaster but got stuck. You can't ship home any US brands apparently. Makes sense but was a bummer. I might try and grab one my last day of the trip and then take it on the plane though.

I wish they had the George Lynch Yellow tiger in a different format. I really dig all the paint schemes but it's basically a strat w/ a floyd and it's insanely heavy
