Who has tried the Suhr SSV in the neck?

Curious about the SSV in the neck. I love the Suhr SSH+, and the usual companion would be the SSV in the neck, right?

Just kinda want to know if you guys thought it would be worth it over either the DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary or the Plain Jane Duncan '59. I've used those two, and while I didn't think they were perfect, I thought they were perfectly fine and usable, and it doesn't hurt that they're not super expensive for being brand-name pickups.

So... thoughts?

When I got a used Goldtop LP, that I have since sold, it had a covered SSV in the neck with an uncovered SSH+ in the neck. Nice combo but I prefer a more open neck pickup. Honestly, I prefer the '57 Classic (A2) or the '59 Model (A5) over the SSV.

I'd love to try the '57 Classic out, but I also don't love neck pickups that are too bright either. Would you say the SSV is warmer than the '59, then?

The ‘57 Classic is certainly not bright. It is warm but being a PAF, it still has a some top end. The 59 is certainly brighter than the SSV. The SSV has more mids from what I could hear. I preferred the 59 in the Goldtop. My LP Trad Pro has the 57 Classic in the neck and that’s not going anywhere.

That doesn't sound too bad. I don't dislike the '59, but if I were to change anything about it, is I would make it a bit less bassy and a bit less scooped and attack-y.
