Who here has actually played a Metal Zone?

Re: Who here has actually played a Metal Zone?

as of the last few days, i've not been using it too much, as i can only hook up 5 pedals and it got kicked off by my new chorus. though, it's still a decent pedal when run with something else to smooth it out a bit. i usually run it with my equalizer with a nice hi-mids hump and cut off the lows and highs for a nice smooth crunch.

Didn't every player that was even a little into heavy music have one as a kid? If you deny that plugging it in and setting up a nasty scooped mid sound and riffing away didn't put a smile on your face... you lie! Of course we come to the realization that when your buddy cmes over, and especially if that buddy plays drums or bass, you get lost in the mix. THen you move on, or re-tweak the pedal to not have that scooped sound...

actually, i found the opposite once. my buddy came over to jam about a month ago. we were playing through the same amp(dual input), and our chains were as follows: i had sg>mxr classic dist.(very midsy od type)>boss eq> windsor stack, and his chain was ibanez rg with v7/v8>mxr 90>windsor stack. the amp was dialed in pretty clean, with a little treble and mid boost. here's the kick, he was playing a very scooped setting(mid freq set at 5k and fully boosted) with the treble cut and max distortion, and i had a less distorted but fully boosted sound. with just the 'zone kicked on(no phase) he totally drowned me out! it was wierd, because most of his mids were sucked out and i mine humped up!....<bad choice of words:D

Most people hate it but the EQing possibilities are actually quite insane. You can tweak that thing day and night and get plenty of different sounds out of it.
