Really.... way to treat a USA hamer like an MIC Squier :) Gawds, I do hope you weren't the one to do it to her, and in fact scored her for $20 from a neighborhood crack addict....

Had a few other single pu guitars in the past but this is my latest and current favorite guitar. Stock pu, import Kahler and all. :D

Well, got one since this thread began - Ibanez's answer to Kramer back in the day. PAF Pro, tuned to Eb. Hopefully a refin will happen in the future (black is bleh).

Oh god, PLEASE don't refinish that.

I played a used one of those recently with a Motor City pickup in it... "Rampage" is about what it sounded like!

Says the guy with the flouro RG . Sorry mang, don't care for black in general (this photo and reflection makes it look prettier than it actually is - can't see all the chips, swirling and scuffs). But, can't be choosy about colours when buying axes that have been discontinued for nearly 30 years :).

Some guitars do look good in black, like the old LP Customs with Staple/P90, but that's because it's contrasted by the binding and hardware. I bought black hardware for this one with the intention that the rest of the guitar won't be black forever.

Re: who here just loves their single bridge pickup guitars?

Would have loved to hear the Motor City in it. Mine's still totally stock. Honestly I really like the stock pickup a lot. A5 mag wound to about 13k DC resistance. To me it's a slightly underwound JB that sounds a bit more articulate. Considered putting a JB in like Cantrell USA model but I'm totally pleased with it stock. Not quite as pleased with the import Kahler but it stays in tune "fairly" well so until money is less of a matter I'm sticking stock.

Woo! I can play now too.

Picked this up a couple of weeks ago and it's a hell of a lot of fun.

I don't own any right now, but since I love filtertrons in the bridge but hate them in the neck, I can see a one pickup la cabronita in my future!

IIIIIIII just wouldn't.

But oh well... What color are you thinking about?

Re: who here just loves their single bridge pickup guitars?

^^ Road Flare Red methinks. This model did come in a red too (Pearl Red they called it), but it was a slightly darker shade. I tried to buy one actually that was for sale earlier in the year but the dude wouldn't ship to Aus :(. Came with a case too.

Well, I didn't think anyone out there owned one of these, haha. How's the hot rails?

Yeah, it doesn't seem like the most popular model. The aesthetics really polarised people, I think. Information and reviews for them is a bit thin on the ground.

It's not a Duncan Hot Rails, by the way. It's an OEM Ibanez pup, as far as I know. It's actually much better than I was expecting. I thought I would be pretty eager to get rid of it, but I'm happy enough with it for the time being.

It's got plenty of roar and a surprising amount of responsiveness and thickness on the high strings. It could definitely be a bit more clear on the low strings, though. It's not bad, and all that thickness can give riffs some nice girth, but it can be a little muddy and can lack definition.

I'll probably change it at some point, but I'm pretty happy with it for now and it's certainly better than I was expecting on a guitar at this pricepoint.

It sounds a lot better with my Laney AOR and a Rat pedal than it does with my H&K Tubemeister. It just really seems to pley nicely with that combo.

This is my first Ibanez and it's impressed me greatly, I have to say.

I would love to get my dirty little hands on a D'Angelico EXL 1, definitely one of my bucket list guitars.

I'm a pretty recent convert to single pickup guitars and have a few.

Nothing too exciting but I like them (sorry for my rubbish pictures):

Part-O-Caster with Roger Giffin Ash body and Fender Mexi Strat neck with Bareknuckle Cold Sweat pickup.

Cheapie Gould Telecaster with top loading bridge, custom scratchplate (couldn't get anything else to fit) and a Bareknuckle Piledriver (Broadcaster style) pickup

I don't really need to say what this is :D the pickup is currently a Dimarzio Super Distortion though.

Just had a look at the specs and it seems to be 24" scale, all mahogany.

Yeah, know the pup is OEM. Seems like the guitar would be a good candidate for a tapped pu of some sort, to make it a bit more versatile.

These are MIC; wait till you play an old MIJ Ibanez :). Looks like you got a good one though; non-MIJ has come a long way but consistency is still somewhat variable.
