Hi there............

I've had this guitar since the early 80's and this pick-up came with it. It is a humbucker with a split coil. Any information on this sucker would be great. It says "DUNCAN" on it but is it a Seymour Duncan?

THANKS FOR YOUR TIME

Is this what a Seymour Duncan looked like in the early 80's?

I'm with Curly. Check the reading on a meter. You should also email the pic to the SD support see what they tell you.

Re: Who knows what this Pick-Up might be??

I did some readings with my meter

Tapped 6.82

Full 13.33

Now what does that mean????

Any thoughts are welcome

current specs for a Custom are 14/ 6K, so it's very likely a Custom

I don't have anything to compare the baseplate, but the bobbins certainly look right to me.

the only issue is that it doesn't have identifying initials on the back

Re: Who knows what this Pick-Up might be??

I've seen a couple of sticker-bottoms that didn't have the initial, just the model, but never with the actual model name spelled out completely, just DD or DC or JB, etc.

Re: Who knows what this Pick-Up might be??

^^ +1, but I´ve also seen the whole name spelled out 2-3 times in the past on oooold specimens.

It´s almost certainly an early Duncan Custom the way I see it...

Email those photos to the Custom Shop. MJ will look at it and let you know for sure and confirm what's been said here. Include the DC measurements as well.

Thanks everyone for the info.

MJ of the custom shop confirmed it's a SH5 or Custom Duncan made in 1980.

Thanks again:cool2:
