Who likes graphic finishes?

Re: Who likes graphic finishes?

I love 'em ,but I'm stuck in the 80's
This is a Jackson I got in a trade ,filled in the neck pickup cavity, switch and tone hole ,routed for an upgrade Jackson bridge ,painted it black and airbrushed on Duckula .2k clear over the whole body for gloss and protection

Not big on graphics. But I like the white version of Hammet's Ouija and Hetfield's Iron Cross. I liked the green flame on Hetfield's JH-1, a gibson-style V. I like a couple of the older Chris DeGarmo guitars from the Empire/Livecrime era.

Mustaine's Dean guitars with graphics are horrible.

Yeah, easy to tell on the Dinky. The Epi Zakk Wylde Bullseye is a sticker too, which I've known. I've seen so many guys airbrushing finishes I never thought that there would be some done with a sticker. Saves money for the manufacturer, I guess.

Then they charge you big bucks for those stickers disguised as an artist's work!

Re: Who likes graphic finishes?

I got my son a Pine tele esquire body on ebay and we are going to paint a Minecraft Creeper graphic like this one. Hopefully it wont be too difficult.

Being its geometric like that you could blow it up print it out and use it as a stencil to mask off the body then just rattle can paint it. Easy peesy lemon squeezy

Re: Who likes graphic finishes?

I have this one to finish. Hopefully i can get to it this weekend. Its a kit tele thinline i have been doing for a friend.
I will be doing a burst in a earthy green in and around the artwork.

Re: Who likes graphic finishes?

Not me. Can't stand them. I'll only take some modest designs like Hammett's Ouija that somebody mentioned,
But I'd rather get a colonoscopy than use those cheesy Jacksons with lightnings and whatnot.

Re: Who likes graphic finishes?

I like the idea of trying to do the fabric thing to a Warmoth body, but I'm afraid it will be a real hassle trying to figure out how to poly over it without getting air bubbles and other oddities like that.

Re: Who likes graphic finishes?

Possible to lay a picture or pictures (not newspaper or magazine cut-outs but real pictures) and then apply a finish to make it look like it's a legitimate part of the laminate top?

Re: Who likes graphic finishes?

I like the old grey colored airbrushed snakeskin USA Jacksons from the late 80's early 90's. Don't see too many of them any more.

Re: Who likes graphic finishes?

Not a huge fan, though content can make or break it imho. For instance I love the road map one in kramersteen's sig, very nicely done, not overly flashy just tasteful and nice ( again though imho! )

I've had this 1987 Charvel M1 since late 1989. Bought it from the kid that hand painted it after copying a Neil Adams Batman on it and the rest is free hand drawn and painted.

Are you saying there's a way to get a free lightning-sky Jackson in exchange for having a colonoscopy done?
