Who makes you want to get a Strat?

Re: Who makes you want to get a Strat?

go get yourself a great fuzzface or clone (sunface or 69), a good strat, and a big fender and you will love that strat.

Totally agree. My Strat really comes alive with some dirt and some serious volume. I find it easier to ring out all kinds of different sounds from a strat, not so much with my LP.

The Wind Cries Mary

NOTHING but a strat can make that sound!

Re: Who makes you want to get a Strat?

Buddy Holly, whomever plays the intro to The Ren & Stimpy Show and few other guys that were already named.

Robert Cray!

I would have to say John Frusciante and Robin Trower. Can't believe these guys weren't mentioned more.

Re: Who makes you want to get a Strat?

Rory Gallagher mostly.

Also deserving of mention is the great Strat tone and playing all over classic Skynyrd albums - Ed King, Steve Gaines and sometimes Allen Collins.

Re: Who makes you want to get a Strat?

Rory Gallagher & Matt Schofield (gonna see him on Saturday wooo!)

Why don't more people talk about Matt Schofield? That kid is very talented. Much better than some of the players that get talked about here.

+1. Loved Trower from the Procol Harum days.

Robert Cray's a geuniely nice guy, has a lot of good songs, puts on a great live show (I've seen him in person), but with all due respect, his solos give new meaning to the word 'tinny.'

Re: Who makes you want to get a Strat?

i love roberts awkward solos and his tone is thin but i dont find it overly shrill

Robert's sure got the image going for him: classy, tall, humble, good-looking blues player with a great voice. But when you compare them side-by-side, don't you think that a guy like Matt Schofield plays circles around Cray? When it comes to guitar, they're just not in the same league skill-wise.

Re: Who makes you want to get a Strat?

im not all that familiar with matts stuff but ive heard enough to know hes a monster player.

crays vocals are fantastic and his rhythm chops are really great but there are lots of people that can lay out better solos than he can.
