Why....me of course. Some of you have seen and others now see. 2012 Gibson Les Paul Supreme, Seymour Duncan 59/JB, gold surrounds, brass tail piece, roller bridge, strap locks, gold pickup selector switch tip and 24k gold strings. Matching flames with bling.

Mine isn't that expensive, but I did put a Philadelphia Luthier Tools Steel tailpiece and bridge ( nashville), and also had it refretted with 6150 Stainless Steel Frets. Of course a pickup swap and new tuners.

Re: Who Modifies Their Expensive Les Paul?........................

I just got a 2015 Les Paul Standard SR- the burstbucker pros were good but a little thin, so I custom ordered 4 conductor nickle covered Slash APH 2's which solved the problem

Thought maybe you'd went ahead and routed it out for floyd or something. lol

Re: Who Modifies Their Expensive Les Paul?........................

When it comes to, let's say $3k or more for a guitar, I will always opt for getting every option I want on that sucker stock from the factory, otherwise I feel like I am paying for parts I am not using. However, pickup tastes change over time, so what I initially ordered might not be where my ears are at 5 years later. But I won't spend that much on a guitar that I intend to modify as soon as I get it.

Re: Who Modifies Their Expensive Les Paul?........................

The only thing I've done to my HCSB Supreme is a LW aluminum tailpiece, but it will get new pickups at some point. The Root Beer Supreme got Seths, the new tailpiece and an RS Kit. They are a PITA to rewire, as there is no control plate on the back of a Supreme.

I did Seths and Antiquity pickups on my two 1960 Classic Premium Plus Pauls, with the LW tailpieces and RS Kits.

The Historics I leave alone.

My '57 custom reissue got a brobucker and '59 A4, other than that it's great. My Pagey LP got the guts ripped out, all that fancy switching went along with the pick ups and it has an RS 50's wiring kit and Brobucker/ Ant pick ups and a lightweight aluminium tailpiece.

Re: Who Modifies Their Expensive Les Paul?........................

I have few reservations about making a guitar do what I need. I do prefer to get them as close to what I want as I can when possible

Re: Who Modifies Their Expensive Les Paul?........................

Like everything but the pickguard

Yeah, it's since come off again. I also made the out of phase permanent, rather than switchable.

Re: Who Modifies Their Expensive Les Paul?........................

i had no issue messing with my r6 as long as it was reversible. if i had an unmolested money burst i wouldnt mess with it. anything else is fair game

Re: Who Modifies Their Expensive Les Paul?........................

Different pickups (and tried a bunch before settling)

Rewired 50s style with new pots, caps, switch, jack.

New knobs and switch tip.

New bridge, bridge studs, tailpiece and tailpiece studs

Needs a new nut, and fretwork..still considerng 18:1 Grovers.

Some of them I never felt the need to change anything but strings.

:shrug/

Still debating on using a t-o-m Kahler on my LP Studio. Otherwise it has an EMG 60 in the neck and Distortion in the bridge.
