For those of you who have a SSS, HSS or HSH setup, do you find much use for the middle pickup by itself, or do you mainly use it to combine with the neck & bridge pickups?

The middle pickups works great with Surf tunes. My Strats are all SSS for now, but I have some buckers in the que.

I use the middle pickup alone all the time for lead and rhythm. The best one is in my Kinman Trads set.

The middle pup on a strat sounds like crud by itself. It is necessary for those wonderful 2 and 4 "notch" positions.

I have a Cool Rails in the middle position and use it more than the HS-3 at the neck or the SSL-5L at the bridge. Really, really good position for overall playing. Or is it the pickup......:scratchch
