Quite some time ago, alt.music.ween did a few CD projects of various types - we did a couple of comps with random covers of Ween tunes, as well as a few "album covers," where a bunch of us each took a song and recorded a whole classic album, including Dark Side of the Moon and Revolver.
Anyways, I'm thinking that over the summer I'd like to put together another such project, though exactly what sort of theme I don't know yet. What I'm interested in right now is whether there's a significant amount of interest from forum bros in participating - once the level of interest, and the number of participants is ascertained, we can figure out what exactly we wanna do so that it ties together. This will not be in any way a money-making project, just something to do for the love of it.
The way I figure it, we'll figure out the character of the comp over the next few weeks, as I said based on how many people wanna get into it and what they wanna do, and then we'll have until the end of July to get the tunes done, and I'll compile it over August for release to general forum consumption before school starts. Ideally, the nature of the comp will be kept secret until it's ready to go out for general forum consumption.
So, whoever is interested, contact me at jpaskaruk@gmail.com with your statement of interest as well as any ideas. I have a few ideas of my own, needless to say, but nothing is decided yet. The project will be guitar-oriented, needless to say, but this doesn't mean that you should stay away if you can't shred - this is about having fun, not who's got the best kungfret.
