Who wants to watch me totally wreck a Les Paul Custom?

Re: Who wants to watch me totally wreck a Les Paul Custom?

This is the Iceman of refinishing threads.

Seriously. If I can turn out a guitar in two days, everyone else should be able to get it done in less than a year.

Not to say that an update wouldn't have been nice...several months ago...but he's stripping/refinishing a whole guitar while replacing the entire board/binding/frets while keeping the setneck neckjoint intact.

It's not exactly the same thing as slapping a bunch of junk Squier parts together after the Krylon dries overnight. :chairfall

Besides: who knows what's going on with him? I haven't seen him on in quite a while. Maybe his computer crapped out, family problems, money problems, just plain tired of forums...

Wow, I had no idea anyone was even keeping up with this.

The delay has been a combination of a new job (Started in Jan), household projects, and "just plain tired of forums". I didn't mean to leave anyone hangin'.

I only post up these "how to" threads because I hope others enjoy them as much as I do.

I have another guitar that I have to refret for a friend, and then I will finish up the LPC.

Yeah I am waiting to see this finished. Ghee it does take a while. My refinish is going slow too. I just put a second coat an hour back.

Now to enjoy the race at Spa in the evening. :)

This is like a cool book with the last chapter missing,. WTF? Need updatze !!

Re: Who wants to watch me totally wreck a Les Paul Custom?

These are very good guitars. All they need to be better than a Gibson LP Custom is an ebony board and a nitro paint job, so......

I have one of the Les Paul SGs, and I have wanted to strip it and paint it metallic green for years. Don't think I will ever bother, but it has definitely crossed my mind.

Ayrton is like George R. R. Martin - slow and steady, but a quality result guaranteed.

I am talking with the painter right now...

Yes it will be finished, and it had better be awesome.

Cant wait to see how this turns out. Ayrton it takes a brave soul to strip and orville with no clear plan in sight. I love it.
