Whoa, new DiMarzio site is waaay cool!

Re: Whoa, new DiMarzio site is waaay cool!

FenderBoy, they won't work. The basics are there, but I had some Dimarzios a while back and the color coding they used for the wires were different than Duncan. For them to work, you'd have to kinda "convert" the wire colors over. There might be more information on the Dimarzio page... if not, I'll try to find out some.

Who's the buttpirate on the main page?

That page would only be good for a "web map" for their page if you ask me. Looks like theyjust listed it all like a web map and didnt' bother much more.

To each his own. Biu if you love dimarzio so much you should start a board for them. The software is less than 200 bucks. You could do it for them, and I'msure they'd be appreciative.

If you went to the Les Paul Forum and advertised how great the new Fender Discussion Page was, you'd get run out of town. Lucikly we're more civilized here.

We have a great page here, but have you guys noticed how many "members" lately have come here in order to prop up other companies pickups? Like they're trying to lure us away from the best. Makesme laugh. Go away little trolls! :)

Remember, the lead dog has the best view and all those other pup companies are staring right at Seymours Starfish. :)

Scott, I dont really like that. That forum has always been a great place to come by and discuss about anything and any brands. If you really want to turn this place similar to the LPF, tell us now, a few of us will certainly ran away, including me. I can't *stand* the LPF.

You will probably tell me that this forum is graciously offered by SD and we all thank 'em. But the WeberVST BBS is also offered by WeberVST and we can talk about ANY speaker brands. For eg., there's alot of discussion going on there praising the newest Eminence products, and Ted/T.A from Weber have never tried to shut up those threads and people/members.

So pls tell us if you're going to turn this place into a *SD pickups discussion threads only*.

Re: Whoa, new DiMarzio site is waaay cool!

I agree. I don't really dig on DiMarzio pups at all, but if someone wants to like their website (or their pups) I think that it encourages us to look around and get the best tone (which is what this board is about, no?). Personally, I don't really like the DiMarzio site. I don't really like SD's either. I don't feel that either site does a good job of getting people into the tone that they want. Their site doesn't do enough guidance, yet has everything organized well (for example: when you are looking at a pup, the tone chart for that particular pup is right there for you, as well as clips). SD's site offers some guidance (breaking down the pups by vintage, prog, cutting edge, etc), but when you click on "hear this pup" you get dumped into the sound clips page all willy nilly instead of just linking you to a particular clip).

Anyway, to the point again. I think that it's fine to talk good about other companies (as I believe Scott you mentioned was kosher quite some time ago), and strictly from a marketing perspective, I think that SD should be watching and interested in what other companies are doing. That's how they are going to stay on top. I think that the forum is probably one of the best marketing tools that SD has right now. It makes up for some lack of clarity in the website and catalog. Having fair reviews of other companies and their websites encourages us not to all be propaganda spewing SD lackeys.

Does it smell like tone? :burnout:

Re: Whoa, new DiMarzio site is waaay cool!

Dimarzio has a good site. I believe that both Dimarzio and Duncan's website are equally effective while taking different website design approaches...both have their pluses and minuses.

Personally I don't see the big deal about this thread. As stated, it usually comes down to personal preference when choosing musical equipment. And realistically, this forum is not maintained by Duncan out of charity. It helps business.

I think maybe you took his post the wrong way. I'm sure Scott didnt mean any harm by his post AT ALL. :)

Just remember - we're here because we like and BUY SD pickups BUT we exchange info on good and bad gear, all manufacturers gear. if someone else makes a better pickup application, then here is where SD and the team find out, rather than wonder where the clients all went, don't forget that.

Re: Whoa, new DiMarzio site is waaay cool!

Scott wasn't slandering or saying anything bad about DiMarzio or any other brands, he just stated the obvious. I use SD and Bill Lawrence pups, but that doesnt mean that I will get banned or flamed for liking them, and thats the beauty of this forum.

Re: Whoa, new DiMarzio site is waaay cool!

cool site, except vai. take that off and put a picture of paul gilbert, that paul edited on photodhop and put a godzilla head on it!!
that would be pretty cool :D

Re: Whoa, new DiMarzio site is waaay cool!

I was kinda on a roll last night. Sorry to anyone I might have offended. I get that way some time. I really ought to create a new user profile account when I'm in the mood I was in last night. Sorry.

Re: Whoa, new DiMarzio site is waaay cool!

Full tilt acid sarcastic ironic trippy stuff:D
Oh bugger time to lay off the coffee and get more than 5 hours of sleep...
Or I'll make a overdrive from assymetrical hell tommorow:D

Re: Whoa, new DiMarzio site is waaay cool!

Well its settled scott was not out to flame anyone anyways. I think this forum is great because everyone can talk about what brands they like with out worries of being flamed to death. I myself prefer duncans but to each his own.

Scott has a great sense of humor. I think some of yall forget that just because he's a moderator.

Yeah, it's like when you grow up with a friend or an acquaintance and then you find out they're a cop or something. They're the same person, but because of their power, they may become intimidating or your perception may simply just change.

I sorta took offense earlier with Scott's post as well, but we all know Scott is a stand up guy and he set things right again :)

I think that all in all kaknight hit the nail on the head. Posting about other pups we like should be a secret wink to Seymour and the boys. After all, they want to serve what us consumers and guitar players need, tone. If we find there's a type of tone Seymour doesn't provide, I think it's not bad to post about it and maybe encourage them to put out a new product.

Posting about anything gear related, not just Seymour Duncan pups was what got me to love this board so much. I love that we have such good people on this board that we can discuss so much without hurting each other's feelings. Try finding that somewhere else. But at the same time, I think that's why some people get turned off of the fact that we may have to limit the topics of discussion here (such as the political thread in the sound room). There's a beauty and a comfort in having all these topics available to talk about with people we're familiar with and have established ourselves with. It would be difficult to search out good forums for each individual subject we wish to delve into.

Sorry if that was a bit off topic, but that's my feelings anyways :)

Re: Whoa, new DiMarzio site is waaay cool!

sarcasm boys, just plain old alcohol inspired sarcasm.

I have noticed a great influx of folks lately that spend more time talking about other companies here. I find that kinda amusing.

But I must admit that I'm really getting tired of vai and satriani pictures that seem to be everywhere lately. :)
