25's Nemesis
Hello all.
One of my more recent acquisitions has been a MIJ Fender Floyd Rose Squier Series Strat. I bought it in less-than perfect condition, but, I can't resist a 90's MIJ Fender, especially when it's almost a twin (finish-wise) to my MIJ '62RI Foto-flame strat. I don't have a lot of experience witb floyd rose strats, with my only other floyded guitar being a Godin SD. I initially wanted to install a 3 single coil pickguard so I could wire up a trio of lace sensor pickups.
I've recently decided to (temporarily) install a CC/APHn combo I have laying about. I have yet to purchase either a HH or SSS pickguard for this guitar.
This is where I started getting surprised.
I understand that a SSS pickguard cut out for a strat with a floyd isn't the most common thing in the world, so custom pickguard work is most likely necessary.
What I did *not* expect was how rare and expensive HH pickguards are for floyded strats. I can get a HSS pickguard that theoretically fits my guitar, but a HH 'guard starts off at 30-something bones (warmoth).
Am I the only cat out here trying to build a dual humbucker, 11-screw strat with a Floyd?
I don't even want crazy colors. A mint or parchment pickguard would go well (I think) with a red foto-flame finish, a black trembucker, a zebra neck humbucker, and chrome dome knobs.
