I once had a stk-s1 that was in parallel when it should have been in series when wired according to the wire colors and the Duncan diagram. I had to change the lead configuration to wire it correctly.

So it is possible that there was an error at the factory.

Update:
First off, I want to thank everyone that took to read my post, and provide great advice and incite.
There did seem to be an issue with the bridge pickup itself, and the set needed to be returned.
