Whole Lotta Love

Re: Whole Lotta Love

The greatest guitarists experimented with and took chances with everything. They put together combinations of equipment never before tried, approached picking and fretting styles that were different, routed and rewired guitar bodies, shaved necks, removed strings, used odd tunings, etc.

That's one common thread I find among the greatest of the greats.

I feel like I'm much to cautious and methodical to ever become one of those greats. (Well, I probably lack the raw talent as well.) These guys all dug into their playing relentlessly, really getting inside their music in fresh and inventive ways. They didn't care what anyone else thought. If they had, they'd have ended up sounding uninspired and uninteresting.

My band used to play that all the time. I used a LP set to the neck pickup, with a Dunlop wah pedal cocked in the right register. Worked for me, and people seemed to like it .
