its a cool pup. fat sounding single coil. not a lot of vintage strat chime or quack but i like it in the bridge for a heavier tone that still has some single coil flavor
it has a little p90 character yeah. different screws might push it more in that direction. id try it out as is before you worry about anything else. its a cool pup
I have my hopes up. This goes in to replace the ssl-3 wich sounds really good I love the tone, and it reminds me allot of a p90. But its way to hot for me, and I love the feel and dynamic's of lower output pickup.
I was always pretty happy with the SDS-1 that lives in my '64 Musicmaster, first in the bridge position, later in the neck position when I went HSS....
