Who's working on a build right now? Let's see your stuff!

Re: Who's working on a build right now? Let's see your stuff!

I've made a nice cigar box guitar. Can't track down a picture of that one. I had a neck lying around, got it de-fretted, and did what I could do with a cigar box. Best slide guitar I have haha

One I finished last week:

Didn't build from scratch at all :P Mostly just hardware and electrical updates. It looks and sounds way better now than it started. Also, the switch tip for this was hand carved from a wood usually used in jewelry beads. Forget the exact wood though.

Next week I'll be starting my first build entirely from scratch and I'm super excited! I'll keep you updated here :)

Pics to follow- I just scored a Warmoth Black Korina Hollow Strat body, rear routed, single hum and recessed Floyd. Spent last week oiling it, deciding whether to use my existing all maple Warmoth neck or spec a different neck

#2 Need to rewire & swap necks on my Tele:
sting3.jpg

Some of you guys may remember this ugly thing from a few years ago. The vibramate is gone, the Bigsby is on my SG, I put a SM-1 in the
neck, and I installed a brass Andy Summers style bridge. I recently found that the previous owner wired the switch so wrong that I'm
honestly shocked it produced sound at all, so I need to install a new 3-way switch. I also swapped the useless GFS 'locking' tuners for a
set of Jackson-branded Gotohs. The last two things I want to do are swap the el-cheapo mystery neck for a rosewood Blacktop Tele neck I
just bought off ebay and replace that fugly pickguard with a 3-ply black one.

It's kind of amusing how things work out...

First I fixed the electronics, but then I found a Lake Placid Blue MIM body that only weights 4lb 7oz on eBay, and decided to swap the body too. The 'ugly' Tele (parts at least) is hitting the auction block soon. I'm keeping the pearloid guard and will be finishing my 'new?' Tele shortly. I can't stand the vintage-style jack cup, but I haven't drilled for a plate yet. I'll be doing so in the next few days and finishing the electronics for good at that point.

If anyone remembers my other projects, the 335 is done, the LP is on hold due to lack of funds, and I'm still debating a magnet swap in the SG:

Ibanez RG440 Project still going and got a nice USACG Maple Board Neck and swapping out the Black OFR on my Warmoth Stratocaster Deluxe for a NOS still in original packaging 1994 OFR that I found sitting a small pawnshop in Pueblo...Fender Floyd Rose Packaging still had an old ass Guitar Center Price Tag of $242.00 on it.

Re: Who's working on a build right now? Let's see your stuff!

Slowly working here. On a different note i have obtained a heap of second hand materials for my workshop i plan to build. A huge pile of hardwood for framming and some used iron. Happy.

This logo was made from a maple veneer i ran through my canon pixma printer. Its a method i haven't heard anyone else mention but damn it works well. Its a change from slide decals and i like how it retains the grain of the maple.

Dang foot in there again.,

Ah yes and my final plans for my set of two tele shredder style guitars. One bridge was donated by will-st the legend. The other which will be used on these plans i am hoping to be that concept bridge i am getting made.

HS 7 string humbucker and a 7 string single on 6 string. I want to paint it green and call it The booger man.

This wood was salveged from a kitchen reno. It came from the house i grew up in and was harvested from the land. Its over 150 years old and passes the knock test. aiiiiiiiiiiiiii

Here is more just for fun, Some skulls hehe and some fabric printed on the right to be used.

What program did you use to do that Tele/Shredder layout?

Coreldraw. But its a vector program so i can save as .dxf/cad files so can get parts made from it.

Nothing new or ground breaking. Kind of like the post I read a few minutes ago by BloodRose on refinishing his Kramer Body where he commented regarding "Time, Talent & Tools"; I'll stick with what I know. As I have nothing with a "Natural" Finish and I'm really fond of Lemon Oil for coloring the wood and a Nitrocellulose Clear - plus I've done a couple. Plus; I currently live n a townhome with inadequate ventilation to do much real finish work even if I spray finish in the garage or on the deck so Lemon Oil/Tru-Oil/Nitro seem to be tolerable to work with in my situation. Hell...I may just clear gloss the damn thing . ;)
