Now you're just showing off! Incredible work. Have you done any wood inlays?

I got one of those micro router bits i think they are 5mm in diameter so i will try something basic myself witha template. My eyes wouldn't allow that sort of work by hand in a traditional way cheating would be needed.

Re: Who's working on a build right now? Let's see your stuff!

its just practice, like anything else, I use a jewellers saw to cut the shell, then I use a dremel with the StewMac base and a 1/32 carbide bit, very fine, very easy to break.
but really just practice.. its all done freehand, dont use templates, they actually make it harder.

I have given up on the really elaborate stuff like this.. this is just too much for my old eyes.

Beautiful inlays. I'm always impressed by fine work like that. That's real eye candy. Thanks for the pics.

Red. Nice! Looking forward to the finished instrument.

Metallic fuchsia it is, then. Thumbs-up!

Tried rubbing the paint into the grain, but the wood isn't soft enough to take it well. Opted to blot the paint on with a rag instead in order to get a feeling of depth. I have some semi-opaque metallic glazes I'm going to use over it. Lol, I figure it'll come out pretty cool or I'll end up stripping it!

That metallic blue is starting to look pretty good, there.

Renegade Guitar Works Chambered Pine with American Walnut cap, taped off for that double natural binding, single humbucker, neck coming from Warmoth, American Fender bridge, Fishman Fluence Nickel humbucker, FU-Tone PMS brass body mount pickup mounting system, sperzel USA chrome tuners. DD Titties!

I've spent the past few weeks working on a few projects. Here's the Esquire & Les Paul:

The Esquire began life as a severely screwed Squier "Bullet" Telecaster, the pickups were mediocre and there was too much relief in the neck. I browsed my local guitar shops used parts bin and found a nicer pickup from 90's Squier Tele. Bought the Gotoh in-line tuners, the bridge, and ash tray off Amazon. I did the stock wiring with an orange drop cap on the tone pot with 1 ceramic cap & 1 ceramic + 3.3K resistor on the CRL 3-Way.

This '56 Goldtop Les Paul needed much less work. The Grovers were changed for Kluson Deluxes, the rusted out bridge was replaced with an USA-Made ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic, the frets were polished, and the neck pup was replaced for a P90 from a Gibson Tribute SG, it will receive a cream cover soon.

I see some nice projects showing up here. Green. Red. Black and gold. Nice work to all. Arath060, I really like that Esquire.

2 point TR cover?
Is that a MIJ Epi?

Lerv teh Goldtops!
:D
It's a 2004 MIK if recall. The headstock required a refinish of clear and black around the tuners since I had to dowel the original holes so they were small enough to use the kluson bushings, I also added a piece of wood so I could use the 2 point gibson truss rod cover.

Thanks! The neck is actually unique in the fact that it has no skunk stripe on the back, it's a maple cap. Also the heel of the neck is more rounded out like a strat neck. The 1-Ply pickguard needed trimming for proper fit.
