Who's working on a build right now? Let's see your stuff!

Re: Who's working on a build right now? Let's see your stuff!

Tablet browser glitching cant upload:

1) ibanez 540s "naturalization": stripped, dyed transparent cherry w/ RIT wine colour (grain highlights courtesy of rusty steel wool w/ darjeeling aka ferrous tannate aka kanemizu), building up a few rounds of BLO
2) strat with tele neck mutt, neck rescued from epic dumbarses and actually required surgery, including a graft of maple on first fret just off the nut, and refilling a gazillion sloppy headstock holes
3,4,5) pickup swaps and cosmetics on stuff so itd sell better

I am finishing up a build...I think. This guitar seems to never be done. I am putting the black tuners and bridge on my black Tele finally. The headstock was hacked when someone tried to remove the serial number. I cleaned up the headstock before putting on the tuners and drilled it out for the bigger posts. Now I am gently going downstairs about once an our or so to add another thin layer of poly to the headstock. Once I buff that out I will put on the tuners and done. I think.

There are times when burl works for me and time when it don't. This is one of those time when it works! Did you make the body?

Sure did. Mahogany body. Traced my Peavey Wolfgang Special for a template. Even found a copy neck off eBay with an ebony fretboard.

Hello,
I built this guitar with my Dad. The stripes are the end grain of alternating layers of plywood. We ripped sheets of oak plywood into strips, then we stacked and glued the strips to make blanks that we cut the neck and body out of. It was our first guitar build, just a fun experiment, so we went cheap with the wood. I took these pics after we tested it and were disassembling to apply a seal.

Looks awesome! How does it sound?

Words are cheap, let your fingers do the talking

Badass dude. Say, was there a reason you didn't round off all the sharp edges and corners on your single string bridges, or ...?
Thanks dude ,They will be rounded and smoothed a bit more and will get powder-coated black when I do the finishing on the rest of the guitar

I finished this off over the weekend. Musikraft Charvel style body and neck.

Unfortunately the stuff I used for the clear is absolute crap! I'm going to need to redo it at some point, but I just don't have the money or time to do it now. Figure I may as well play it.

Alder body with flame maple top, one piece maple neck with 10-16" compound radius fretboard. Stainless steel frets. KGC brass block and neck plate. Customised Custom Shop IM1 and Little '59. I think I'll change out the 59 though. It's not quite the sound I'm after for a neck pickup. 3 way 4PDT with Petrucci wiring. Sounds and plays great.

Carved the rear neck profile this weekend

I have this thing on my, ahem.. bench. All GFS parts except the rosewood style Squier neck....stop your drooling, haha, it's a lightweight paulownia body with a light flame maple top, roller bridge and trem and it's getting routed for a chrome cover, alnico II neck humbucker, vintage style bridge pickup and chrome tele style knobs.
