Just finished coloring the grain and spraying clear coats.

Sandblasted?

Looks great!

Re: Who's working on a build right now? Let's see your stuff!

I couldn't dig out enough grain to get that sandblasted look, but it is close.

Re: Who's working on a build right now? Let's see your stuff!

Details, man, DETAILS!! (start another thread or PM me, but I need to do that)

Re: Who's working on a build right now? Let's see your stuff!

Here is the short of it. Swamp ash top that was wire brushed to dig out the grain. Paint or stain then seal it. I used silver acrylic craft paint mixed with timbermate neutral grain filler rubbed into the grain then wiped off the top with a damp rag.

Man my bench is a mess! How embarrassing.

Well...the Billy Bo Jupiter Thunderbird Build fell through due to a defective body from an eBay deal upon which I got screwed...I had all the parts with the exception of a body (and now tuning pegs) so I salvaged what I had and picked up an '87 RG440 Body to go with the HM Neck...a Fender CS '54 Neck and SD Antiquity Texas Hot RWRP are on the way to fill the Single Coil Slots with the Pre-2004 SD "Evenly Voiced Harmonics" Trembucker in the Bridge, a DiMarzio 500k Volume/Fender TBX Tone/DiMarzio 5 Way Strat Selector Switch...only problem is every time I look at that Ruby Burst Finish it's screaming MAPLE FRETBOARD NECK at me!!!

What was wrong with the Jupiter?

The Floyd Recess Route was off to one side so with the posts/inserts it would not mount or function due to it hitting 3/8" wood under the full length of the upper bridge plate as well as it being too short length wise to accommodate the string lock screws for set up or pull up.

Seller (wendiramone501) balked at return/refund even though they claimed a return policy, and, unfortunately, because I had begun painting it the seller denied any issues with the route defect and argued that she shouldn't have to take back an altered item...of course eBay in their ultimate wisdom bought the sellers story and backed her...so I lost my money on the body purchase with the seller not obligated to return the body after I sent it back per eBay instructions for retuning an item for refund.

Ah. Sucks.

I can understand not taking back an altered item, but it being mis-routed that badly... and you shipped it back? Much suckage.

Re: Who's working on a build right now? Let's see your stuff!

Yep...I even contacted eBay customer service to inquire about an appeal of the decision and asked how they deemed "altering" the item a greater wrong than the fact it was "defective" to begin with...didn't matter to them..."policy states an altered item is not subject to a return". Decision Seller.

Just something I recently finished up.
Walnut top ash body
GFS Retrotrons
X-Trem
Walnut veneer on the headstock to match the top.

Just need to sort out the wiring. I set it up for 50s wiring but every time I role down the volume, all it does is get muddy...

Nice score, that's one of my favourite Ibanez finishes from back in the day. Those 1987 Roadstars aren't very common - there's a mix: some have the same body style as yours without the notched horns, others have the same as the previous year.

Nah, not maple - ebony :).

Re: Who's working on a build right now? Let's see your stuff!

Thanks! I've always liked the Blue Burst and Ruby Burst Finishes of this era (540R and Roadstars) and ran across this one for a good price. At this point, after the fiasco w/the Billy Bo, I'm just glad it all seems to "fit" together! I have come to appreciate Ebony as my Jackson and Warmoth Strat have Ebony Boards but I still love Maple. Probably sticking with this neck for now but we'll see down the road.

Sweet looking things at this page! I got my Star going, already draw the shape to the wood but it looked a little off so I´ll have to check some lines and do some tweaking.

Going to saw it tomorrow. Sorry for no pics. Yes, it´s knotty pine again. :)

One piece mahogany body from renegade guitars, warmoth pro construction mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard and schaller tone pros tuners. I painted the body and headstock with Wimbledon white, followed by champagne metallic and cleared it with minwax lacquer. It's a very thin clear as I want this to wear out and relic. I am still undecided on pickups. I'm torn between dimarzio satriani set and their 36th paf.

With all that mahogany, it should sound great with either pickups. You may even want to try one of each. Perhaps a 36th PAF neck pickup at the bridge to brighten things up and a Santrini in the neck.

I'm currently
Considering a Pearly bridge but idk. They are suggested for brighter guitars. I've heard them in les Paul and loved them tho
