Why all the Digitech hating?

Re: Why all the Digitech hating?

I have heard so much of this anti-Digitech stuff, but some of their pedals look alright... I really want to try out the Whammy seeing as it's got such a great reputation.

So please, tell me. Why all the Digitech hating?

Cause mine broke

Actually, thats unfair. Mine arrived DOA. four times.

yeah, I ordered a digidelay, got it once, it didnt work, sent it back, got another one, it didnt work, sent it back, got another one, it didnt work, sent it back, got another one, didnt work, said F*** it and went with a boss DD-5, which hasnt let me down in about 1 1/2 years of constant use and abuse.

Not to mention how crappy my RP-3 was when it worked, and that was a rare occasion.

I swear that company employs a shaman to curse its products.

Re: Why all the Digitech hating?

I have a old DOD chorus pedal and it still work and sound great. Also have an RP200 which is actually quite useful and I like it. Having said that I do know alot of people who have had problems with some of their products.

Re: Why all the Digitech hating?

Most of the Digitech multi-units I've tried all seem to sacrifice tonal integrity for options and extra goodies. What good is everything plus the kitchen sink if it doesn't sound nice? I prefer Boss and Line 6 units.

The single pedals usually seem like they're rather cold and lifeless as well. The modulation and time-based effects sounded muddy to me, as well. Again, I prefer Boss or Line 6 for time/modulation effects and usually Fulltone or modded Boss units for overdrive.

I do like the Whammy pedal though, plus the Bad Monkey seems to have developed a good following. I keep an open mind about gear but generally i find that other products are more to my liking.

Re: Why all the Digitech hating?

i tried a gnx4 in the store and bought it right there. i don't usually do that sort of thing. my girl was with me and she said that i looked happier right then than she had seen me in a while. i got it home and hooke it up to my pa and didn't even bother to turn on my single rectifier...it sounded that good to me. i've had it for nearly a year and have had zero problems with it. i don't even use all the effects, i just use the models and the recording capabilities.

as for all the haters, guitar players are a very opinionated lot. usually once we get burned or disappointed by something, then everything made by the same people has a stigma for us. chances are that even if you don't like that pedal you bought, it's probably just right for someine else.

for me the bottom line isn't so much the name, but whether a certain piece of gear inspires you. inspiration is all that really matters to us anyway, right?
