Pretty much. In all honesty, I never used the wah & whammy together that often.

On paper, SS looks better than tubes, but there are a few people that like to use those old amps incorrectly by pushing them to an overdriven state.

Some do that, and some play clean.

They both have potential for different tones. To each his own I guess.

though I think maybe not quite the same as its not so much an issue of making a "tone" thats a matter of taste, but rather one of basically making a pedal totally cut out and make no sound at all.

Pushing something to clipping creates a distorted tone. It may or may not be considered "good" depending on who you ask, but theres an actual noise to be subjective about.

octave after a wah really doens't allow any subjectivity because its either the wah is off and it works, or the wah is on and it doesnt work.

But I still do get the point of what your trying to say
