Why do stoners like Sunn model T amps?

Sunn is Stoner right? And Ive seen Stoner dudes using solid state Sunn gear too, not just the model T'sso I thought id give a heads up to anyone in the San Diego area about this cool little old alpha amp. Buy it now 200.00 local pickup only.I might like to have something like that. But anyway, maybe one of you stoner dudes can tell me why exactly do stoners like Sunn model T's? is there a certain tone that can be described, or is it just mostly image?

i think stoners nowadays are into Orange amps and Electric amps. i guess they like that huge, super-loud overdrive. plus, Sunn amps have kind of a cult appeal that i can't really explain, but there's even a band now called Sunn 0))) that uses strictly Sunn amps.

i must be getting old... what exactly is stoner rock these days? in the past i knew it as 60's rock.... acid rock was some of the 70's stuff...

Because they are loud, fairly clear and they have a massive bass. The distortion they get is mostly power tube distortion and they accept pedals well.

stoner rock is basically a new take on 70's rock, it's a lot thicker though

and stoners like sunns cause they give out thick loud overdrive, like a jumped plexi or orange does

the band SUNNO)))'s guitarist used to play in a stoner rock band called Goatsnake. Both of those bands are excellent examples of Sunn Model T's.

King Buzzo from the Melvins made solidstate SUNN amps popular.

The real Sunn (non-Fender) model T has the rich bottom end that missing in other amps. From the the first strum, they make other amps sound thin and kinda cheap. The bass is really warm, so it sounds natural and organic. They were designed and sold as both a bass and guitar amps, so they won't put out gobs of gain, just seriously huge American tube tone.

With a mild o/d pedal, they sound their best. It was always fun taking my model T to places in the 1980's, and seeing the pwned looks on other players faces.

yep. name rec = high prices.

I say look into the ampeg v4 for that tone for cheap. it is the amp I am currently gassing the most for.
