Taking your old ring and sanding it to size might be an option as well.

The guitar isn't finished yet so those are all posibilities. I need to try each and every pickup to try and get the best match with this guitar.

That's what I did. The ring which came with the Dimebucker didn't totally match the screwholes on the guitar, so I just filed the opening of the stock ring to fit the pickup.

So what you gonna do if you have a guitar with a rare pickguard?
