I saw a video today saying--and it's not the first time I've read or heard this--to turn up each tonestack knob individually, including gain, until the amp acts like that's where it wants to be, where it just starts to audibly open up. Turns out my tone was slightly muddy, and I didn't even know it. I have this weird obsession with never even trying things all the way up or all the way down, and it turns out I didn't end up with anything all the way up or all the way down, but this amp has never sounded better than dialing it in truly just using my ears.
And I've read this exact same method here before and ignored it. Edge of breakup, pick dynamics, responds gloriously to boosts. It's all there. I'm a true convert now.
