WHY Duncan Custom and Ebony do NOT match?

Ciao there!!!
I used to have a LP Standard with a SH-5: I loved it...
Now years later I own a LP/SG Custom and I am not happy with the Gibson pickup. The amp is the same (Brunetti preamp, VHT power amp) so I tought about a SH-5 again but it seems that the SH-5 does not match with ebony fretboard...WHY???
The Tone Wizard says to go for the SH-14...but if I look at the specs, I still do think that the SH-5 is the one for my high speed hard rock style...
What do you guys think about it??? PLEASE help!

I dont think the SH-5 will be a problem at all. THe last time I looked at the tone wizard it seemed to recomend only a few pickups for any style of music. I would go and give the SH-5 a try since you loved it before.

Thansk for the reply guys! I think I'll give it a try again...I wrote SD too about this topic...I'll post their answer as soon as I get it.
I hope I can find the SH-5 with gold-cover...that's how the other two pickup are (it's a three pickups LP/SG Csutom).

you can order the sh5 with a gold cover for a minimal upcharge

An LP standard and an SG/LP are two very different guitars, I don't think it's reasonable to expect them to sound the same, even with the same pickup. The difference is likely a lot more than just an ebony board (like a pancake thin body compared to the huge slab of mahogany on the standard).

very true, the sg body and lp body are quite different, especially if you have the older short tenon style (like a '61)
itll be a more upper mid focused tone with a little less top and bottom than a lp
