Why I don't encourage players to do their own repairs

"I left the guitar plugged into it" he said innocently " went away and had a cup of tea but when I came back the guitar was still out of tune...":jester:

And then there was the guy who tried to plug his guitar straight in to the 240volt mains supply...

:laugh2: . . . Man, I used to work both pro-audio and consumer audio. I bet we could exchange some stories. If I had a dime for every 200-watt/ch car stereo amp that had power connected to the battery with Radio Shack 24-guage intercom wire . . . :yell:

Or the guy that brought me a car stereo to repair:

(We had a sign that said we only work on car stereo's that we sold.)

Him: Do you work on car stereo's?
Me: Did you buy it here?
Him: The car?

For someone who doesn't read anything on the net or has never done a replacement, thats quite understandable. Give the guy some slack, and yeh people really shouldn't do replacements if they dont bother reading how to do it first.

No sweat, Ace. Hell, we're not the ones who did that to that poor defenseless p'up...lol

All apologies to all offended. Perhaps it was my allergies acting up, or maybe the mess the kids made. Perhaps it was even that many of the posts do seem to have a hint of tragedy. In any event, I've put some ointment on my diaper rash and i'm feeling much better. And I never had any doubt as to your ability to succeed in this task. Peace, love, glorious tone, and one more time - Sorry:blackeye:

It's OK Ace, we all have our off days...:beerchug:

My workshop is in the back of the shop. The entrance is round the front. I got so sick of being interrupted by people knocking on the window asking me if the entrance is round the front that I put a huge sign on the window saying

YES THE ENTRANCE IS ROUND THE FRONT!

Guess what...

Yeah, about three times a week:smack:

The other favourite is

"do you fix guitars?"

Well...
