To find a good bolt on neck, strat style hard tail guitar? I've been looking at G&L's, American strats, Carvin bolts, etc. It's a project for later, I don't want a trem of any sort, must be able to accept duncan pickups, I plan on putting two cool rails and a distortion, 2 cr's and a hot rail, or a distortion and a jazz neck, depending on when the time comes that I find one that I like, I won't be too picky about the pickup configuration. sing sing hum would be preferred though. I played an american double fat strat hard tail today, the back of the neck was all icky and sticky, frets were total garbage, not to mention fender won't use anything except for that thinner than thin fret wire that I can't stand. arg!
must haves:
nice comfortable neck back shape, the ones on american strats I like.
good chunky frets, AT LEAST medium to medium jumbo to jumbo
accept duncan pickups (I'm afraid the carvin might need wood routing and that scares me)
under $1,000, preferably closer to the $500-600 range.
HARD TAIL!
Maybe I overlooked something. You guys ever come across anything like this?
