Why is my guitar so dark?

Re: Why is my guitar so dark?

i would try changing over to a brighter pick up like a fred or a steves special though i have not uses those. I have a duncan distortion in my guild bluesbird which is a warm sounding guitar but with the distortion its a crunch machine while still being thick i suggested the others because i know they are bright. Mahogany seems to have an extended lower mid response so some thing with more higs and high mids and less low mids and low end should help as well as the pots you use.

Alnico 2 magnets have sodter lows and softer highs.Get an Alnico 5 or Ceramic pickup.I have a mahogany body guitar which sounded like poo with a custom custom(A2).Changing the pickup to a ceramic custom was like night and day. If you like hot get a custom, otherwise something similar sounding but less output.I am sure it will work

I was going to suggest taht too, but I've never played the APHs. I think you want something really bright (JB, Demon, etc.) to offset.

Dimarzio Evolutions are pretty bright and should work in a dark mahogany bodied guitar
